Meiko Herrmann

De todos los trabajos premiados con el premio World Press Photo 2010 hay dos que me gustan especialmente: los de Kent Klich y Meiko Herrmann sobre Gaza. Ambos fotógrafos han sabido acercarse a una realidad mil veces fotografiada y han salido indemnes del reto de aportar una mirada nueva al conflicto.

Herrmann pasea su cámara por escenarios devastados que el ser humano contempla con impotencia. Describe con maestría los efectos de una maquinaria de guerra que aplasta los edificios como cucarachas y convierte a sus habitantes en exiliados en su propia tierra. Herrmann no nos enseña la sangre de los muertos, pero muestra las heridas del territorio y las heridas, mucho más profundas, del alma.
